Deemed Contract Rates

What are Deemed Contracts?

A Deemed Contract is an informal agreement which may be entered into should your business move into new premises whilst the previous occupant’s chosen energy supplier still provides power to the property.

Alternatively, deemed contract rates may also be imposed if you come to the end of your current business energy contract without renewing and your supplier does not clearly state what will happen after contract termination.

For example, a supplier may state that unless you renew your contract before your business’s energy contract has finished, your business gas and electricity supply will be moved onto Out-of-Contract rates in your official agreement. If there is no disclosure of your supplier’s intended actions, your business energy is likely to be moved onto a deemed contract.

On average, deemed contract rates are 80% more expensive than those within a negotiated contract. If your business doesn’t organise another energy contract before moving into new premises, you could end up paying almost double for your business gas and electricity.

To avoid deemed rates, we highly recommend that you organise a new business energy contract at least 30 days before moving business premises. SwitchMyBusiness.com will happily help you when moving business premises! We’ll find great energy quotes so you get the best business gas and electricity deal for your usage.

I have just used Switch My Business…

"I have just used Switch My Business today to switch our gas supplier c/o Account Manager Mark Weeks - who offered an excellent service. I found the whole process very simple, quick and efficient, whilst also saving us money. Talking to an actual human person (Mark - who was concise, informative and had personality and humour!) on the end of the phone, and having all my questions answered was refreshing in this modern era of live chat and emails and mindless individuals!! I highly recommend you to switch your business now with Switch My Business."

Renewal has never been so easy!

"Carl rang to discuss our renewal for the Electricity. This is the second time we have renewed via Switch My Business after they arranged the initial transfer. As ever the options were clearly stated and the best deal agreed upon with no pressure."

Helpful and Patient

"Sharon was helpful and patient while we decided on the best new electricity supplier for our Club. She was able to offer us a fixed 3-year deal for only a few pounds more than we've been paying our current supplier (and much less than we were going to have to pay in future). I'm very grateful for her help."

Our church electricty

"Paying a silly amount for our church electricity. Went through Switch My Business website and came back with some better quotes. Janis rang straight away to discuss our options and found us a much better deal. She set it all up and provided the template to give notice to our previous supplier. Very straightforward and we are going to save at least £150 per annum. Great service"
