PM told not to U-turn on price cap – Utility Week

Labour has warned a weakened Theresa May not to u-turn on the energy price cap contained in the Tory Manifesto. May is likely to face pressure to drop the cap from suppliers and Tory backbenchers, however the policy has proven to be ‘genuinely popular’ with voters.

Energy providers ‘falling short on digital services’ – Energy Live News

Energy suppliers are still failing to capitalise on the digital revolution, and offer their customers an online service in line with their expectations – such as banking. New research has found that the main complaint is the lack of information provided on supplier’s websites.

Michael Gove as environment secretary is ‘fox in charge of hen house’ – The Guardian

Michael Gove’s voting record is coming back to haunt him, as he is appointed Environment Secretary. Gove, who returned to the front benches after Theresa May’s post-election reshuffle, most notably headed up a drive to remove climate change from the school curriculum.

Global Energy Demand Stumbles for third year – BP

Global energy demand continues to fall with almost all growth now being seen in developing nations such as China. The main reason for the drop is greater energy efficiency due to new technology, according to a new report from BP.  Unsurprisingly, the fastest growing source of energy came from the renewables sector.
