Most of our customers call us because they’re looking for a cheaper deal on their energy contract. However, that’s not the only place that we can make savings – as The Burton Hotel in Devon found out.
The Burton is a pub in Devon that serves traditional food, real ales and often plays host to local bands. Like most pubs and restaurants, their energy usage is substantial – so moving to a cheaper energy tariff can mean big savings.
Owner Brian initially contacted Switch My Business because of our 5* reviews and when they spoke to our Corporate Account Manager Melissa they found that we could offer them some great rates.
Whilst most energy switches run without a hitch, sometimes things do go wrong. In this case, Brian got a nasty surprise when his final bill included a £600 extra charge for out of contract rates.
What had happened?
The Burton’s previous supplier had made a mistake with their contract end date – and attempted to charge them extra for the error.
Luckily, Melissa was on the case, and refusing to take no for an answer managed to get the supplier to admit their mistake, and drop the charges. They issued a revised bill – less the £600.
